Context and objectives. Radiotherapy is commonly used in localized prostate cancer, but its practice is recent in Côte d’Ivoire. The objectives of the present study were to describe the clinical profile and evaluate the results of radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer. Methods. This was a historical follow-up study of prostate cancer patients treated with radiotherapy. Parameters of interest included clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary data. The primary endpoint was survival (time to death), which was described by the Kaplan Meier method. Results. One hundred and twenty patients (mean age 65.1%, high-risk cancer 74.2%) were included. All treatments were performed in 3D technique with a total dose varying between 66 and 74Gy according to conventional fractionation. All patients received hormone therapy. With a median follow-up of 44.7 months, overall and biochemical relapse-free survival rates were 89.1% and 82.8% at 3 years, and 79.9% and 67% at 5 years, respectively. In the bivariate analysis, Gleason scores 6 and 7 were associated with better PFSb. Late toxicities such as grade I or II cystitis and/or rectitis were observed in 37.5%. Conclusion. Prostate cancer is diagnosed most often at an advanced stage. Radiotherapy in combination with hormonal therapy has provided good disease control and tolerance in treated patients.

Contexte et objectifs. La radiothérapie est couramment utilisée dans le cancer localisé de la prostate, mais sa pratique est récente en Côte d’Ivoire. La présente étude avait pour objectifs de décrire le profil clinique et d’évaluer les résultats de la radiothérapie du cancer localisé de la prostate. Méthodes. C’était une étude de suivi historique des patients porteurs d’un cancer de la prostate traité par la radiothérapie. Les paramètres d’intérêt englobaient les données cliniques, thérapeutiques et évolutives. Le critère de jugement principal était la survie (durée de vie) qui était décrite par la méthode de Kaplan Meier. Résultats. Cent-vingt patients (âge moyen 65,1 %, cancer de haut risque 74,2 %) ont été inclus. Tous les traitements ont été faits en technique 3D avec une dose totale variant entre 66 et 74Gy selon un fractionnement conventionnel. Tous les patients ont reçu une hormonothérapie associée. Avec une médiane se suivi de 44,7 mois, les taux de survie globale et survie sans rechute biochimique étaient respectivement, de 89,1 % et 82,8 % à 3ans ainsi que de 79,9 % et 67 % à 5 ans. En bivarié, les scores de Gleason 6 et 7 étaient associés à une meilleure SSRb. Des toxicités tardives à type de cystite et/ou rectite de grade I ou II, ont été observées chez 37,5%.
Conclusion. Le cancer de la prostate est diagnostiqué le plus souvent à un stade avancé. La radiothérapie combinée à une hormonothérapie a permis d’obtenir un bon contrôle de la maladie avec une bonne tolérance chez les patients traités.
